Jorge Mas Canosa Middle School in Country Walk Placed on Urgent Lockdown After Shooter Report
COUNTRY WALK, Fla. — Jorge Mas Canosa Middle School in Country Walk was placed under an urgent lockdown Thursday after authorities responded to a report of a possible shooter at the campus.
Multiple law enforcement and emergency officials were seen rushing to the school at 15735 SW 144th St. in Miami as authorities investigated the report.
The campus was immediately placed on lockdown as responding personnel worked to assess the situation and determine whether there was any credible threat to students, faculty or staff.
Officials have not yet confirmed that a shooting occurred, nor have authorities reported any injuries.
Students and staff are being instructed to remain secured while the investigation continues. Members of the public are also urged to avoid the area and allow emergency personnel to carry out their duties.
Authorities are expected to provide additional information as the situation develops.
